Bicycle Memorial

Here's the bicycle that's part of the memorial for Las Vegas teacher Barbara Tronnier. She was struck by a car while riding her bike to school on June 5th.

Yoda

Yoda was just one the items I found at this makeshift memorial for Las Vegas teacher Barbara Tronnier. Barbara Tronnier was killed last month while riding her bicycle to school. You'll find this memorial on the sidewalk in front of the Montecito Marketplace on Durango.

Nevada Revised Statue...

Note to self it can't be a good neighborhood when the NRS are spray painted on your building.

Bombs Away!

I was getting into my car yesterday morning and spotted this WWII bomb looking thing-a-magig, hanging from a tree in the Walmart parking lot. So after close inspection I came to find out it is an insect trap hung there by the Nevada Department of Agriculture, for Japanese Beetles.

After Googling Japanese Beetles, I found out the Nevada is under quarantine for these insects. The purpose of the quarantine is to keep these destructive (and disgusting) insects from spreading via aircraft, yes I did say aircraft.
Wouldn't you know they are REALLY GROSS looking. EEEWWW I was really close to it, how yucky is that?

1 Hour Max

I shot this photo Downtown on I believe 6th Street. Not very Vegas, actually it could be anywhere USA. I just liked how the shot turned out. Hope you all are having a great weekend.

Indoor Balloons

Here's another part of the decor that changes with the seasons at the Bellagio. This Spring colorful parasols hung from the ceiling, like this one.

I Feel Like I've Seen This Before

Inside the Bellagio Conservatory again, today's highlight is this interesting tree. It reminds me of a Saturday morning TV show, back in the day...come on anyone over 40 should know this one. The answer is here.

Mini Mount Rushmore

More of the Summertime display at the Bellagio's Conservatory. This mini Mt. Rushmore has a small train that runs in from of it. Here's another interesting Las Vegas "knockoff" I found on BoingBoing check it out.

Summertime In The Conservatory

Look familiar? Yup, its a mini Bellagio made of "green" materials...a bunch of sticks and seeds. complete with a fountain in front. This mini Bellagio is part of the Summer display in the Bellagio's conservatory. This Summer theme will be on display until September 6th.

Day Of The Dead?

I spotted this on a telephone pole at the corner of Sahara and Joe W Brown. This reminds me of the Day of the Dead artwork you find all over San Antonio.

One Of Caesar's Fountains

This fountain is across from the Bellagio on the corner of Flamingo and Las Vegas Boulevard (The Strip). The temperature is not to bad today 103 degrees, but the humidity is about 31%. Yuck! Makes you want to dive into this fountain. Stay cool!

Beneath The Neon

Just a few more days left to see the Beneath The Neon exhibit at The CAC (Contemporary Arts Collective) The exhibition runs thru July 24th. The exhibit based Matthew O'Brien's book Beneath The Neon, which was 2 years in the documents life in the city's underbelly, it's storm drains. Beneath The Neon interpreted by Las Vegas Artist Brian Paco Alvarez gives you the feeling of life in the city's storm drains.

You can find CAC at 101 E Charleston#101. This a shot of obviously the outside of the CAC, with reflections of a billboard and The Stratosphere.

The District

The District at Green Valley Ranch is a master planned community. Intended to give an urban feel to the community,with shopping and restaurants at street level and living spaces above. I enjoyed myself last week after work did some shopping and shot some photos. I liked the lampposts they give it some charm.

A View Part Deux

Another visit to the Eiffel Tower Restaurant, this time for a nice lunch. This time I busted out the zoom lens. I thought it turned out pretty good. I can't believe another week has gone by. Happy Friday, Have a great weekend.

How Sweet It Is...

Yesterday, I decided to try the Retro Bakery's cupcakes for a birthday dinner tonight. Let me tell you, don't know what you are missing! The scent of the Monthly Flavor hit me as soon as I was inside the bakery, it's none other than Creamsicle! What a great flavor for summer.

The Retro Bakery features daily flavors to entice you like Tuesday's Blueberry Pancake and Sunday's Ice Cream Sundae. Pictured here is the Coffee and Donuts cupcakes and the Sprinkled Donuts cupcakes. I'm already a fan. A Visit to Green Valley Ranch

I was leaving the parking garage and decided to stop and snap a shot of this sign. This is a great vantage point to view fabulous lights of The Strip. You will find the Green Valley Ranch in the southeast part of the

Vegas Valley.

The Gang's All Here!

Here we are at the Chinatown Plaza again today. This is the Journey to the West Statue with 4 of the main characters. The fact that this original story is from the 16th century is truly amazing!

Monkey King

I'm not sure if this Monkey King looks like he's from Planet of the Apes or some sort of character from a Dr Seuss book. Either way, he's pretty cool looking. The Monkey King is part of the Journey to the West statue located within Las Vegas' Chinatown Plaza. You can find Las Vegas' Chinatown is one mile west of The Strip.

The Greedy Pig

This close up is of the Greedy Pig, just one of the characters represented by this statue in the middle of Chinatown Plaza. The statue depicts characters from a Chinese folk tale, Journey to the West.

Don't Go Down That Road

With the forecast calling for rain, I snapped a photo of this billboard. When it rains in Las Vegas it is truly an event. Unfortunately, it also floods and no matter how many times people are warned, some genius ends up on top of their car and has to be rescued.
There is a contest at the Clark County Regional Flood Control to come up with a new license plate slogan which will make it to a billboard like this one. The purpose of the contest is to raise awareness of the dangers of flooding.
And yes it rained last night, it was complete with thunder and lightening. You also get to see your neighbors when it rains because everyone opens their garage doors to watch the show. Maybe I'll make some popcorn for the next rainstorm.

Almost Famous

Part of the old Pioneer Hotel Casino Sign. To me this looks like it should me on a hamburger stand or ice cream shop. Maybe I'm just hungry! Happy Friday have a great weekend.

Zelzah Shriner

Another great find! Who doesn't love a man in a fez! This statue can be found on Mesquite Avenue outside the Zelzah Shrine. He kinda looks like someone we all know don't you think?

Just Say Cheese!

Just recently I noticed this Golden Gate Hotel window. No you are not seeing things, this is Clark Gable in the window. There are other windows with photos of different people, such as the owners. You can find these windows facing the Fremont Street Experience.

Buffalo Jim's Daughters Not Going Down Without A Fight!

While on my way to work this morning I spotted the Buffalo Jim's buffalo on Sahara Avenue just west of Las Vegas Boulevard . My June 20th post touched on the feud between Buffalo Jim and Rick Rizzolo. I was very surprised to see this on display, on Sahara Avenue this afternoon. A Peak Inside The Palms

Alley Next To Peter Pan

This alley is next to the Peter Pan Motel. This is another old motel, The Gables complete with awnings for the air conditioners.

Not To Be Confused With Disney's Peter Pan

It's been a while since I've posted a motel sign. The Peter Pan Motel is Downtown on 13th Street, I would have to say the sign is the nicest thing about this place.

The thermostat reads 112, this heat is really oppressive. This fountain looks so inviting, Kinda like when we were kids, running threw the sprinklers! Have a safe holiday!

A View From The Eiffel Tower Restaurant

A glimpse of the Montgolfier Balloon, with the City Center construction in the background. This would be a great place for lunch today, we are expecting the temperature gauge to hit 112! Stay cool!

Cooling Off Inside Paris

This fountain inside the Paris Hotel and Casino, can be found on the casino floor. I took this with my new camera, and am still trying to master the new software.
