Who's On Your Wall?

I must confess I had a 6 foot poster that came with the Osmond Brothers album I bought from Herbie's Records. It hung on my bedroom wall way back in the day, well the very early '70s. So every time I pass the Flamingo I think back to the "tween" days and my crush on his brother Jay the drummer. Even though I was a fan of the Osmonds, I never, ever was a fan of the Donny & Marie Show.

Remember the early '70s, we had the Osmonds, Jackson Five and don't get me started about David Cassidy and the Partridge Family. Some days it seems like yesterday and other days it seems like a lifetime ago.

Blue Man

Inside the Venetian's Grand Canal Shoppes you will find the Blue Man Group in wax. The three figures are just inside when enter from the Strip. You'll find them next a Travelocity information desk.

There are three figures with drums you can pose with I just like this "solo" shot, he's pretty cool don't you think?

A Sundae for Sunday

Serendipity 3 on the Strip, near Caesar's fountains. The tempature is supposed to reach 107° today, so a sundae would be a nice way to cool down today. There were already long lines to get into Serendipity3 at 11:30am.

MJ Tribute

The Venetian's Madame Tussauds has their Michael Jackson figure out in front of the museum's entrance for fan to come and leave flowers, condolences and what not. I went to check it out this morning, it was kinda creepy to me. People were smiling, posing and one woman was kissing his wax image yet this was some sort of memorial. I just don't get it.

Senor Frog

As Suzie and I made our way through Cactus Joe's we stopped to take a break to sit on the porch and soak all of it in. As I was enjoying all the visuals that Cactus Joe's has to offer, I turned to my left, and there he was Senor Frog in all his mariachi regalia.

As I was going through the usual Monday morning recap of the weekend, with a friend who likes to torment me about the fact that I have never seen a single donkey in the 15 years I've lived here. (And has been known to email Redrock donkey pics from his crackberry) He told me that the pig at Cactus Joe's is named Lindsay Loham, I did not get a photo of the pig uuuuuuuuuuggghh! Will have to make another trip out to Redrock in search of the ever elusive wild donkey and now a pig. Stay tuned.

Wagon Wheel

What I didn't mention yesterday is that Big E told me about Cactus Joe's when she was out here last time. She told me I would love this place and she was right! I mean how great is this wagon wheel with the these wind chimes? Not to mention how friendly the staff was too.

Donkey, Donkey Where Art Thou?

Cactus Joe's this afternoon in Blue Diamond I found this fantastic Donkey @ Cactus Joe's today. Here is why I LOVE this place... they let me bring my dog in ( they have dogs of their own there), and there's a so much cool stuff to check out. Most of after spending the afternoon at Redrock and NOT seeing a single wild Donkey I found one at Cactus Joes.

Landmark Mailbox

This mailbox on Tenaya has always signalled to me that the next street is Rome. Tenaya has changed quite a bit over the years but this mailbox has remained a constant, this mailbox sits in front of the UNLV Rodeo sign.

NHL Awards 2009

Another first for Las Vegas, the Palms hosted the NHL Awards 2009 show last night. I showed up hoping to catch a glimpse of the Stanley Cup which I obviously missed. I learned today that if you want to get a good position for the Red Carpet you have to arrive early not fashionably late! I took a few shots of players on the Red Carpet, but honestly I really haven't follow hockey that closely since the NY Rangers finally won in '94. So I had no idea who they were.

And yes I know that NY Rangers fact off the top of my head (scary).

A Masterpiece

Sunday we had the opportunity to stop in at the Artisan Hotel. Larry had told me a long time ago that I had to check out the Artisan's artwork on the ceiling . So I assumed that there was a mural on the ceiling ....boy was I surprised.

This photo was taken in the lounge notice the paintings on the ceiling. The hotel is quite dark, so I had a hard time with the light but I think you can get a feel for how unique this place really is. We stopped in and had a drink in the lounge, where we met Perla the fabulous bartender who told us to feel free to roam around and shoot as many pictures as we wanted. Perla also filled us in about the hotel, there are 64 rooms, they have a beautiful pool and cabanas and a wedding chapel. I have to say the Artisan hotel is probably Las Vegas best kept secret! Only minutes from the Strip on Sahara.

Happy Anniversary, Happy Anniversary!

Today was Cirque de Soliel's 25th anniversary, to mark the occasion Cirque held a "Lets walk on the Wild Side" stilt challenge to celebrate their 25th anniversary. To celebrate their anniversary Cirque has coordinated 10 cities to try and break the Guinness Book of World Records of people simultaneously walking on stilts.

I unfortunately had to work but my husband Larry was able to make it to the end of the event to shoot this picture. This was shot on the Strip in front of the Bellagio.

Inside The Forum Shops

I shot this while heading down on the spiral escalator (one of only 2 in the US). This statue/pillar is located in the newer area of Caesar's Forum shops, three levels in all. Let's see there is a Peter Max Art Gallery, Juicy Couture and Baccarat Crystal to name a few.

Famous or Infamous?

You decide.Back in the day, he was quite the athlete he actually was called Charlie Hustle. That's right it's baseball's Pete Rose. We saw him yesterday at Caesar's Palace in the Forum Shops at Field of Dreams. Sadly he is behind a rope with people staring at him like a monkey at the zoo.

Pete Rose was quite the baseball player who went on to manage the Cincinnati Reds that's when he got into trouble. You see Pete had a "little" gambling problem, that will keep him out Cooperstown.

I'm not really sure that I think betting on your team is a bad thing, I'm leaning in favor of him making the Hall of Fame. I do have a problem with how athletes today are handled these days.I was and still am dumbfounded that in '90's Latrell Sprewell chokes his coach doesn't get thrown out of the NBA. Then we have Michael Vick who is (thankfully) still locked up for dog fighting yet the NFL hasn't thrown him out. Kudos to the Falcons for cutting him loose. So in the scope of things betting on your team to win doesn't seem like such a bad thing. What do you think?

This post is for my cousin Steph.(Today's her Birthday)

This one of the Senior Squares in front of Las Vegas High School, which started in 1941 as a prank but the principal liked it and so the Senior squares were born. Although Stephanie would have been the Class of '77, I liked the chapter fifty on the Class of '64. So let's all wish Stephanie a very Happy Birthday as she begins chapter 50!

Meet Wendell

I was driving on Rainbow making my way home, when I spotted him at the corner of Rainbow and Charleston. He was sitting on a plastic milk crate, painting away. I have to tell you he is a very intuitive man, we had a conversation that touched both my heart and my soul. Either all my chakras were open or God spoke to me. Yeah as a lapsed Catholic, I know how crazy that sounds. However, I walked away with a great photo and renewed spirit.

Lady in Red

You can find this beauty in the alley behind the William's Costume shop. You've got to love this beautiful Lady in Red. Check out the article in Las Vegas Weekly about the aerosol art work around the district. Notice the cover, remember you saw that artwork on ALVDP first!
