This is a a beer drinker's heaven! Just imagine 100+ beers, that's just what the Yardhouse has to offer. Like I said a beer drinker's heaven. The usuals mixed in with names like 8 ball and Moose drool, surely something for everyone.

This Caught My Eye...

Remember having a pinwheel when you were a kid? This is the grown up version with a pretty grown up price tag. There were about 12 different varieties of this wind art. These were at Town Square, on South Las Vegas Boulevard and Sunset. This is another great area with restaurants and shops. I've got some other great shots to share with you this week.

10 to 5...

10 minutes 'til 5 o'clock! I shot this the last time I was at The District. I really enjoy my visits to Green Valley Ranch and The District. Every time I am there I always find something unique.

It usually takes me at least 50 minutes to get home from there! The only reason I don't frequent The District.

Atomic Liquors

Downtown at Atomic Liquors on Fremont Street. At one time "Atomic" or splitting an atom was a really cool thing to Las Vegan's. Now splitting atoms to Las Vegans means nuclear waste, other States' nuclear waste. So when you hear about the Yucca Mountain debate remember, your old pal Mo lives in Nevada and you wouldn't want to jeopardize ALVDP would you?

The Ambassador East

This is all that is left of the Ambassador East Motel on Fremont Street. The marque reads "closed thanks for he memories" I guess the "t" fell off. This sign is catty corner or kitty corner from yesterday's sign I posted.

Clean Slate

End of a long week, this empty blank sign on Fremont Street has so many possibilties just like the coming weekend.This retro sign is part of an old gas station, probably the kind where they could fix just about everything and still pump your gas.

Green Valley Ranch

This is the entrance that faces the District. I was there a week ago in their movie theaters to preview Revolutionary Road. I belong to Las Vegas Free Movies, which sends invites to have you preview movies before they are released. (So you're basically a test audience.) Pretty cool huh. I was especially looking forward to seeing Revolutionary Road since Kate Winslet had won a Golden Globe and ever since The Departed I've been Leonardo DiCaprio's biggest fan.

I wish I could tell you I liked it...I just can't it was depressing, boring, and most of all disappointing. It was across between American Beauty meets Ordinary People, don't get me wrong American Beauty was a great film but this just sucked. I would rather stick a needle in my eye than sit through it again. If you are contemplating seeing it save your money.

Bail King

I found this new addition on Main Street the other day. Great isn't it?

Yesterday we (Americans in case you've had your head in the sand) inaugurated our 44th President, essentially the American equivalent of a King. Many Americans are looking to President Obama to bail them out. It will be interesting to see what his first 100 days produces, solves and resolves. I say this because we are a society that expects instant results. You know what I mean... how many of you have stood in front of a microwave waiting for your food to finish? Or how about the guy texting while driving? A new administration gets 100 days so is that a minute or a lifetime to microwave society? You decide.

Lady Liberty

I had almost forgotten about this Lady Liberty who graces Liberty Square strip mall. I passed her just before Christmas, and thought I've got to get back here and capture her photo.

You can find her on Sahara about 2 miles west of the Strip, this replica was dedicated in 1981.

Local 369

A much smaller union than the Culinary Union, representing employees, who are vital to hotel and casinos on The Strip. The Musicians Union office is located on Vegas Drive near Rancho.

Caged Graffiti

I've missed the last 3 First Fridays, I was out of town for 2 and just too tired for this past one. I'm sorry to say I missed a lot! We were driving past thru the Arts District when I spotted some really cool graffiti. I have to tell you that I am normally not a fan of graffiti, but what I found was not malicious punk tagging but amazing art.

Pop's Philly Steaks on the corner of Decatur and Alta. This Philly Cheese Steak stand has been there as long as I can remember. It used to be Philly Steakout back in the day, open 24/7. It makes me hungry just looking at it.

A Closer Look...

Reveals an interesting concept for a light fixture don't you think?This chandelier hangs above the bar at Camacho's Mexican Restaurant inside the Aliante Station Hotel and Casino. This chandelier is actually made up of 2716 bottles of Cazadores Tequila. I have a confession to make I have NEVER EVER tasted tequila! I can't get past the smell.
