Living Vine

Remember the Diva's awhile back at the Palazzo? Here's one of the living vines you will find on the second floor shopping mall. These living vines roam around on stilts and love to pose for pictures.

Early Evening

One of the great advantages of this time of year, longer days which equals more light. I shot this from the pedestrian bridge that links to the Palazzo and the Venetian.

A couple of days ago a window washing stage and its window washers had a mishap. 40 mile an hour winds got the best of them, busted up a bunch of windows, I'm guessing the window washers won't be going over the side of a building anytime soon.

Look Up In The Sky!

I don't know about you, but most days I walk through life just looking forward. Next time your in Las Vegas take the time to look up. There are some amazing details you'll miss if you don't. The Creative Housewife inspired this post.

This beautiful light fixture is in the Wynn's shopping area. This shot is without a flash, I which I think gives it warmth.

Parasol Up/Parasol Down

Beautiful parasols at the Wynn, this photo captures just a segment of the parasols at the Wynn. These parasols are raised and lowered at different times through out the day/night. There are 2 bars Parasol Up and Parasol Down where you can enjoy a nice cocktail and and a view of the waterfall. Happy Friday.

Second Time Around...

I had the opportunity the other night to once again see Treasure Island 's (TI'S) Mystere. Mystere is Las Vegas' first jewel in Cirque Du Soleil's crown of Las Vegas' entertainment.

While this was the second time for me to see this show, this was the first time I had the opportunity to enjoy the behind "the scenes". While I was required to keep my lens cap on, I managed to enjoyed this behind the scenes perspective on this fantastic show.

Top Of The Totem Pole

I have to tell you this one even suprised me, which is pretty hard to do. This totem pole is on Colorado next to the gypsy wagon.

Recession Tip...

Why not save a couple of bucks and go to one the local schools fund raising car wash. I went yesterday to Legacy High School's track team car wash, now my car is nice and shiney for only 5 bucks.

For The Birds

Right next door to the gypsy wagon on Colorado, we find an apartment house for birds.

Gypsy Wagon

Gypsy wagon in the Arts District on Colorado and 3rd Street. The pink and green building used to be the Gypsy Caravan Antiques which is no longer. This is what's left.

Almost Famous

This is a terrible picture but it the first celebrity to grace the ALVDP's blog. It's none other than Ty Pennington of ABC's Extreme Makeover Home Edition. He bipped in and out pretty quick at the Las Vegas Extreme Makeover site, which is not to far from my home. Which is why I decided to stop and check things out.

My husband Larry however volunteered for LVEHM and is mentioned in KTNV'S Lisa Remillard's blog entry yesterday. She gives a shout out to "Larry the painter", yes he is standing over me as I type, please be sure and check it out here. So I guess this makes him Almost Famous.

An guess what today is Larry the painter's birthday. Happy Birthday to my almost famous husband. Happy St Patrick's Day too!

What's Wrong With This Picture?

Something is missing. It's only half a sign now, nothing special. I was shocked when I saw it, missing the slide and the girls on it. I am so glad that I've got a few shots of the slide. I first posted this sign January 13th 2008.

When I called the store to find out what happened to the slide, I was told that on Thanksgiving when we had all that rain the sign caught on fire. The man on the phone said they don't make signs like that any more, and they want a small fortune to replace it. Needless to say, a replacement wouldn't be the same. It's sad, Las Vegas lost a little more of it's history.

I told the man on the phone I'd come by with some prints for him. He thought that was cool.

The Executive Airport

The executive airport directly across from the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas Sign at sunrise. I never get tired of the beautiful sunrises we have in Las Vegas.

The new parking lot for the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign is an example of money well spent. No more dodging cars for me or sneaking into the the Executive Airport parking lot thanks to Clark County.

Early This Morning...

A very large cup of coffee instigated this sunrise photo shoot. I decided to go for a drive on the Strip and stopped at the Welcome To Fabulous Las Vegas Nevada sign, to shoot a few. I was surprised to see about 10 other people out at 6:30 am, and 2 were in shorts (it was 48° they must have been from Minnesota!)

I like to shoot at just about dawn here in Las Vegas, because you have this very small window of time where you have dawn's natural light and all the casinos' marquee's all at the same time.

Neon Overload!

The Neon Boneyard just has so much "stuff" this is one of my favorites. I know I have to wrap this series up soon. I just had soooooo much fun that I could go on and on with shots from the Boneyard. , I hope it hasn't been like watch your neighbor's home movies. Happy Friday.

Pair-a-Dice

Yeah, I know sometimes I just can't help myself I just have to be cheesey. A pair of dice neon signs within the Neon Boneyard.

Light Bulb Fetish

As I sort through my many photos from the Photo Safari, I have decided that I have a light bulb/neon sign fetish. I just love the old Las Vegas signs with there gazillion light bulbs. With LCD signs starting to dominate the Las Vegas Strip this retro sign is a breath of fresh air. This is one of many shots I took during the Photo Safari last week.

Old Binion's Sign

An old Binion's Horseshoe sign inside the Neon Boneyard. I snagged a spot last Wednesday along with 89 other photographers on the Photojojo Las Vegas Safari. It was awesome! I had always wanted to go to the Neon Boneyard, as you know life sometimes gets in the way. I have so many photos to sort through and so many I want to share with you, I hope you enjoy this series.

Make A Wish!

Here's to wishing you a fantastic weekend! This is the peak of the Palazzo's waterfall. All the wishing coins in the fountain are donated to the Adelson Clinic for the treatment and research of drug addiction, Dr. Miriam and Sheldon Adelson (founders of the Venetian and the Palazzo) match your "wishes".

A Different Angle

Here's the divas of the Palazzo's living garden. It's really a cool little show to see absolutely free and every 90 minutes between 12:00 pm and 6:00pm the divas movements are choreographed to opera music.

The Beautiful Diva's

of the Living Garden. These lovely ladies grace the Palazzo's Living Garden between 12:00pm and 6:00pm every day.

Waterfall at Palazzo

The waterfall at the Palazzo also helps give you an idea of how massive this place is. The second floor (top of the waterfall) is where you will find plenty of decedent shopping.

Front Desk

This is a view of the Palazzo's front desk. You can really get a feel for the vastness of this hotel, just by looking at the gigantic bamboo in the centerpiece. So what do you suppose you call that brass thing? Is it an urn? Is it a vase? I think it's an urn. You decide.

Lobby Statues

This beautiful piece sits in the middle of the Palazzo's lobby. The lobby is amazing, this centerpiece is below a glass and metal dome. What I really liked was the open and airy feeling when you first arrive at the hotel lobby.

Theme Day-Glass

February has come and gone. Today is CDP's Monthly Theme Day Glass. I had been thinking about what to post all month and it wasn't glass. It's a good thing I checked the CDP's Theme Day Forum, because I had the wrong theme lined up! This is a photo I took in January, this is Atomic Todd's window on Main Street however when I searched for a link it has Atomic Todd listed on Commerce Street. I will have to investigate this further.

Check out the rest of the world's take on glass here: Click here to view thumbnails for all participants
