Atomic Street

Thought this was a pretty cool name for a street. This is just off of Water Street in Henderson.

I'm still without my laptop uuuugggggghhhh! Tomorrow's theme day and also First Friday! Mayor Oscar Goodman will be there to dedicate the Atomic Passage the first public art project in the history of the city or Las Vegas where artists' concepts have been integrated into the engineering infrastructure of a Public Works streetscape enhancement. The dedication will be held on Casino Center Blvd. between Charleston and Colorado Ave at 6pm.

Goat Roper

As I was posting this picture of this goat I remembered a story about an old friend named Red Dog. The story took place maybe 5-6 years ago not to far from where this goat lives. So here's how I remember it. Red Dog was out walking late one night and had a few beers, the cops stopped and started asking him some questions. Well he told them he was a goat roper...next they asked for ID he gave them is Alien "Area 51" spaceship license. Yup, he sure did. I can't remember if it was a 24 hour or a 48 hour lock up down a St Rose Siena Hospital's phsyc ward.

I guess they did have the same sense of humor as Red Dog. Red Dog passed away this past December, just before Christmas after battling cancer for several years I miss his wacky phone calls and funny stories.

Long Horns

Not quite what you think of when you imagine Vegas is it? These long horn steers are at the end of that bumpy dirt road there's also a bunch of llama's around there but they were no where to be found.

So Slow

My notebook , laptop , lifeline whatever you want to call it crashed. So posts are delayed. The good news is it's still under warranty.

Ok back to the photo...I took this out in the nothwest part of Las Vegas. This is on a private dirt road not far from Tenaya.

Dry Dock

I know they say that millions of years ago Las Vegas used to be underwater, I'm no archaeologist but I'd have to guess that this boat is not a an artifact. I couldn't believe it when we came across this find. I'm not sure why people can't just go to the dump. It's free as long as your water bill is current.

This boat sits in a field across from Shadow Ridge High School out in the northwest part of the city.

Jai Ho Dance

DIPA Dance Instructor

This is one of the Divya Indian Performing Arts Studio's dance instructors at Saturday's Festival in Henderson. I must tell you that when she first stepped on stage I was taken back by her beautiful and elaborate costume.

Friendship Dance

The Intertribal Dancers invited members from the audience to join them during their last dance, the Friendship Dance. I managed capture the Jingle Dress during this dance. The original Jingle Dress's jingles were created from tobacco snuff cans.

Male Dancers

I shot this yesterday at the Henderson Heritage Festival. This is the male dance performed by the obviously male members of the Horse Creek Intertribal Dancers. It was a great day, the weather was absolutely beautiful in the 80's not a lot of wind.

Henderson Heritage

When I was a little girl I remember traveling to see my older sister who was in college. We would drive up to see her on the weekend. On the way home we would have to drive by an Indian trading post. I used to make my parents stop at the trading post so I could check out the Indian and his moccasins. So, I guess this where a girls' love of shoes begins.

These huge concrete pipes are part of some drainge project on Decatur and Elkhorn near the DMV.

St John the Baptist

Greek Orthodox Church, just off Hacienda, near Torey Pines. I am told this where they have the Greek Festival every year. I think this is one of the most beautiful churches I have seen here in Las Vegas.

Wild Kingdom

I noticed this giraffe at Mc Donald's on Sahara Ave I've probably driven past there a bunch of times and just now noticed the statues.

Happy Easter

Today was Easter Sunday, this is the day that Jesus rose from the dead. Today is the end of lent and my birthday. I gave up carbs for lent 4o days and nights without my old friend carbs. Well like a true Irish Catholic busting out lent,I ate every carb I could get my hands on. And yes cousin Steph, I did have a ravioli at my neighbors :). Peace out I am sick to my stomach. By the way this is the ham Larry made and yes it is not a carb.

I love this artwork inside Spring Valley Hospital's lobby. This painting is located next to the main lobby's elevators. I've photographed this everyday for the last week, I finally got a decent shot .

Quit Pickin' On Lonnie

Lonnie Hammargren our ex Lt.Governor and retired neurosurgeon is having a problem with a neighbor. He is being sued for all the "junk" he has at his house. The lawsuit is kind of out of left field since he's had many of these "artifacts " longer than I've lived in Las Vegas. I guess this must be from a new neighbor.

Sneak Peak

Last night we went to the Hard Rock Hotel for the Extreme Home Makeover behind the scenes party. Wright Construction wanted to thank all of the donors, sponsors and volunteers who helped make the show a success.The show will air May 10th.
They had an awards ceremony which was held outside by the pool. which was extremely cold.
The is the Hard Rock neon guitar, just off of Harmon. I took this with my new 5omm lens. :)

TGIF

Shot in an alley behind a downtown pawn shop. Suzie and I have been cruisin' the pawn shops for a bargain on camera lens. Happy Friday, have a great weekend.

Fashion Show Mall

The Fashion Show Mall on the Las Vegas Strip. I shot this from the Wynn, Palazzo pedestrian walk . The Fashion Show Mall has some great stores like Macy's, Neiman Marcus and Sak's Fifth Avenue.

What's nice about this mall is A) it's on The Strip and B) it's not too big. Sometimes malls can be to big and overwhelming atleast to me. I'm not the shopper I used to be back in the day...so I just try to get as much in as I can in a short amount of time.

Theme Day-Yellow

I thought this would be the perfect Theme Day photo. This was shot Downtown just off of Gass, behind a Bail Bond office and next to a Tattoo parlor. This sign was of course next to a no trespassing sign.
