Hoover Dam
As many of you may already know Hoover Dam is the reason Boulder City exists. Boulder City is where many of the workers lived during the dam's construction in the 1930's. No gambling or alcohol were permitted during the construction of the dam, today alcohol is sold in Boulder City but still no gambling. This crest of the dam in the middle of the street in the Historic District. Near the Boulder City Hotel.

Heat Warning
It's truly a shame that we need to have signs to remind parents not to leave there children in their cars during the summer months. Sadly, people still do it and they do not understand how quickly it gets hot inside a parked car.I shot this in Boulder City, and I can tell you today is a hot one! I have the current temp at 109°.

Rival Readers
This is the Rival Readers bronze sculpture in Boulder City's Historic District. This is one of many beautiful bronze sculptures throughout the Historic District.I was drawn to this sculpture because my mother was a great reader. Every summer we were part of the local library's summer reading program. Every time you finished a book and returned it you received a hot air balloon or a fish, or some sort of symbol that you could tape to the window at the library. Basically you could show your scholastic strength without the hassles!

Friday Nights

When I saw this sign on the side of Goat Feathers Emporium it brought me back to my childhood. You see, when I was a little girl Friday nights meant a trip to the Grand Union for our family's weekly groceries. I looked forward to going with my mom, because she being the adult had no clue as to which cereal was sugary enough for my young palate and she certainly could not select the proper cookies.
The other bonus was getting the S&H Green Stamps and pasting them in the book. Each Friday night I would tally my stamps and would be that much closer to the gift I spied in the catalog...the dice foot rest. I saved and saved for it and gave it to my dad. And like any good father who got some junky thing from his daughter he used it.

Special Dillivery
This Baja Bug was at Town Square last night. Too funny to pass up, Johnny McGuire's "We Dill iver." A fairly new deli at Town Square. We went to the advance screening of The Ugly Truth. The Ugly Truth is a chic flick that seems to me, to be take off on one of Dr Laura's self help books. Predictable yet funny not a runaway hit but funny all the same.

Sunrise
Morning is my favorite time of day, especially here in Las Vegas. I have to be to work by 6:30am so I get to see the sunrise almost every day. I took this on Saturday morning out at Hemenway Park in Boulder City. This is a few of my fellow photographers waiting to get a shot of the Bighorn sheep.

More Aerosol Art from Downtown. this part of a mural which featured our lovely ladies earlier this week. The more I look at it the more he reminds me of the Judge on Boston Legal, portrayed by Henry Gibson what do you think?

Respect
This sign is posted downtown on the fence that surrounds much of the Aerosol Artwork just off of First Street. Yesterday I awoke to the news that some idiot tagger decided to tag the historic Welcome To Fabulous Las Vegas sign. How messed up is that? I hope they catch whoever did it. It's jerks who do things like that ruin it for the edgy aerosol artists here in Vegas and elsewhere.

Razor Wire
Now that I have determined that I've had a stange fasination with light bulbs, neon and now razor wire (which I just realized today).I began to wonder is razor wire to graffiti as velvet ropes are to artwork in a museum. What do you think?

Old School
Now I'm about to date myself...Does anyone remember when you used to find $2 Black Jack tables on the Strip? I do, that was back when dinosaurs roamed the Vegas Valley.I haven't played Black Jack in a million years, but a $5 table was about the cheapest you could find. There used to be $2 tables during the week but then the casinos would raise the minimum hand on Friday afternoons for all the Californians coming for the weekend.

Forgot your readers, no worries the restaurant has a spare, your took the wheel chair out of the back of your car now worries... the valet can hook you up. The list is endless.Monday, July 6, 2009

Donkey Torment
I know why cell phones have cameras, they were created to torment me. This photo was taken by my friend Demetri while riding his bike through Redrock and Blue Diamond. As many of you know in the 15 years I have lived in Las Vegas I have never seen a single donkey. It's become a joke between us, I come into work every now and then I get an email of donkeys. This morning I had 4 emails of these guys and a couple of other donkeys. I picked this one since the view is of their ass'.Pretty good photo for a moving camera. Thank you again Demetri for tormenting me.
