Creepy or happy, you decide. I'm going with creepy. He's kinda scary, I'm not sure I've gotten over my childhood fears but I think I was afraid of clowns. I know without any doubts I was afraid of those flying monkeys from the Wizard of Oz.
Circus Circus opened in 1968, and is one of the older hotels and casinos on the Strip. I don't frequent the place, I think the only time I've been there in the past 10 years was to take my nieces there for the indoor amusement park the Adventuredome. I'm not really sure why, because it certainly has that old school kitsch I'm fond of. Maybe it's the clown stuff that keeps me away. Clowns are kind of creepy to me like John Wayne Gacy creepy.
This pretty white peacock can be found inside the Encore. It's at the entrance to the the high rollers tables.
So, I answer the ALVDP tip line and head over to my friend 's house to capture this really cool Dragonfly this morning. This Dragonfly was hanging out on her Yucca plant in backyard. This was about 12:00 now, the clouds are rolling in here in the northwest side of the valley maybe we'll get some real rain today!

With the Woodstock Crowd. Fremont Street had this backdrop so you could have your picture taken as part of the the in crowd. Hard to imagine Woodstock was 40 years ago. This is what I remember about that weekend, I remember being at Ossining Hardware with my dad, he was complaining to Bear Kane how those dam hippies were screwing up the NY Thruway, I also remember the NY Daily News featuring photos of the hippies screwing up the NY Thruway!
The first thing that popped into my mind, while deciding on this post was Wavy Gravy. So many of you are thinking a Ben & Jerry's retired ice cream flavor? Well, yes and no. I who Wavy Gravy is because of the Ben & Jerry's flavor. Wavy Gray was the MC at Woodstock, he liked to dress like a clown. I'm not sure if this was the look this hippie was going for on Saturday night but it was came to mind.
Last night I managed to ditch everyone and slipped out for a few hours of ALVDP picture taking. I spent some time on the Strip and then headed Downtown. I had a idea in my head of what I was looking to shoot but came home with something absolutely different. I have a bunch of pic's to share with you this is the first of many.
I shot this yesterday morning, while picking up my morning coffee at the drive thru at McDonalds on Rainbow and Sahara. I'm glad I did because as of this morning it is gone. I shot this not knowing really who Will Rogers was and what this all meant. I just thought it was different. So I turns out Will Rogers was a humorist who was popular in the 1920's and '30s. He coined the phrase "I never met a man I didn't like," while referring to Russian Revolutionary Leon Trotsky in 1926. The actual phrase was "I never yet met a man I didn't like." Perhaps this was one of the first sound bites!
These beads were hanging in front of one of the many shops inside the Encore. As you can see the skylight above makes for a nice background.
I shot this jacket the other day at the Encore, this was in a store window. Thus the glare. I just really liked it and today I was thinking about what I should post and perusing my favorite blogs when I discovered that another family member likes the the Rich Rockstar look too. I dropped by the Encore this afternoon, I spotted cool detail in the hotel's shopping area. Anyone care to guess what it is?
This statue of Joe Louis sit outside of Bobby Flay's Mesa Grill inside Caesar's Palace. Later in life Joe Louis had financial problems, he took a job greeting casino patrons at Caesar's Palace.
Fridays between 4:00 and 8:00 pm on Fremont East we have a Farmer's Market. It's really small but all the same we have one. I would like to see something like this grow in our community, but I'm not sure how the rest of the locals feel about it.
As you may or may not know wheatpasting is a form of urban art. Instead of aerosol paint cans the artist uses wheatpaste to adhere his or her poster to a building, sign, telephone pole or what ever. I shot this Downtown not far from the El Cortez. I thought this was pretty funny.

Ok so, you're like big deal a speed limit sign Mo, what's the big deal? Look to the right of the sign, do you see it... shoe prints. (As always you can click to enlarge the photo) Ok so we have shoe prints on concrete in the UMC parking garage so what's the big deal . Well this is beam that's about 9 or 10 feet above the ground. Walking through the garage looking for the stairwell I was amazed, there were all sorts of shoe prints, I thought to myself who does this? Is this some sort of extreme sport? Do they jump up and do this or do they some how stand on a vehicle? Or is this perhaps some sort of new shoefitti? I'd be interested to hear what you know or think.

Roller Con 2009 was in town this weekend. They has an exhibition Downtown at the Fremont Street Experience. Let me tell you these are some pretty tough broads, skating here.
