Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween! Our photo today is a little bit of Circus/Horror fusion. I think the red clown nose is a nice touch.

How will you be spending your Halloween? Will you be going to a haunted house today? Will you be trick or treating with your children? Me, well I'll at home be handing out candy to our many trick of treaters.

Please remember to keep an eye on your pets, especially around the chocolate it can be DEADLY, for cats and dogs.

Enter If You Dare

The Freakling Brothers Cirus decided to tap into the "creepy clown" market. Apparently there is a demographic that enjoys being scared by clowns. This just poves my point that clowns are creepy.

Halloween is almost upon us, will you be going out in costume or handing out candy to Trick or Treaters tomorrow?

Haunted House

One of many haunted houses around the Vegas Valley. I'm not sure how these haunted house measure up these days. But I remember going in them back in the day. We used to go to the Jersey Shore during the summer, where we would inevitably pay a trip to the haunted house. Back then in the haunted houses they would jump out and grab you , talk about scaring the @$&# out of you.

Madeline would drag me in there, sometimes I wonder if it was just to see me with that terrified look on my face! Who knows, I really don't miss that crap. This shot is of the the sign on the haunted house at Rainbow and the 95.

Even the Blue Man Group is getting into the Halloween Spirit! Stumped about what to wear on Saturday? How about going to your Halloween party as a Las Vegas Showgirl. This was shot inside Venetian.

Autumn Fountain

Bellagio's autumn fountain, I really liked this angle. It really feels like autumn today it's cold, windy and really looks like it's going to rain!

Think Twice

I'm going to think twice before I use the colloquialism "turn into a pumpkin"! Especially since this Bellagio pumpkin is over 500 pounds!

Perks

This is one of the perks listed for that apartment complex, across the street from where I work. This is on Hacienda, if you travel a 1/4 mile east you can see the Luxor.

I am happy to be returning after sick this week.

Almost Human

Almost human and that my friends is exactly how I am starting to feel. This is the animated tree at the Conservatory inside the Bellagio.

Chucky

This scarecrow from the Conservatory inside the Bellagio reminds me of Chucky. I don't know about you, but horror is not my cup of tea. I could never stomach those movies. Can hardly believe it's almost Halloween.

Tree Creature

This tree creature is part of the Bellagio's fall display inside the conservatory. Reminds me of HR Puffinstuff. Kind of creepy looking, no?

Speaking of creepy, I'm home sick with the flu, yes flu. I have had my flu shot but not my H1N1 shot, let me tell you I am absolutely miserable. Imagine you head in a vice, fevers, congestion, well I could go on...The point is be sure you get your flu shots before it's too late.

ALVDP Turns 2

Yes, it's true ALVDP is 2. Hard to believe it's been 2 years since I first hit the publish post button. It's been a great 2 years, looking at Las Vegas through a camera lens. I have certainly enjoyed it and I hope you have too.

2 Big Names

2 big names not usually associated with Las Vegas. Neiman Marcus actually has an address on the Strip, Trump does not. Trump is on Fashion Show Drive. This was shot from the pedestrian bridge at TI.

I'm under the weather today fighting to make it through the day. Happy Tuesday everyone.

Time Flies

Time flies when you're having fun. Hard to believe that my vacation has come and gone. Already got one day at work under my belt!

This is just outside of the Dior Store in the Bellaggio.

Homecoming

Had a great time on vacation but all things must come to an end. It's nice to get back to your own bed and tomorrow back to work.

This is a shot of the D gates at McCarran Airport.

From the archives a few weeks back, shot this at the carnival. This is a creepy clown garbage can.

Mario

Who doesn't love a man with a scarf made out of sausage? This is on the marquee outside of Mario's Restaurant inside the Venetian. Here's to a great weekend.

Barney's New York

Mr Potato Head in the window at Barney's New York inside the Palazzo. I remember when Barney's wasn't all that...a suit with 2 pairs of slacks was their ad campaign.

Speaking of NY it snowed here today, on my way home from the City. I had a fantastic day with my cousin Steve and Rana, thanks for coming out on such a cold and rainy day. You guys rock!

Your Tour Guide

Where is all day gambling, drinking and wearing gold lamé socially acceptable? On the Las Vegas Strip.

I Don't Do Windows

How would you like to do the windows here? Yikes, how would you like to trade your chair your sitting in now for one of these Bosun's chairs? Not me I'll stay right here on the ground. This High Rise Window Cleaner was working hard on the Venetian's many windows. I wonder how long it takes him to get all the those windows washed.

So Sweet

This is the World's Largest Chocolate Fountain, Jean-Phillpe Patisserie is located in the Bellagio not far from the Conservatory. Notice the photographer in this shot? I have no idea who it is but I liked how it added to this shot.

Favorite Email

So I got this email from my brother on Friday, on the eve of my vacation. So this is where I will be today watching the NY Giants. I have never been to a Giant game so I am very excited about it, 50 yard line 25th row, hanging out with my brother...priceless.

Shoefitti From A Different View

This is the part I love, all of these people just oblivious to what's above them. It's truly amazing the things you see when you look at your city through a camera lens! At least Donny and Marie can see it.

Anybody watching Donny on Dancing With The Stars? I haven't caught it yet this season. He must be doing ok he's still on the show.

Snap That!

I found this wheatpasting on the Wynn-Palazzo pedestrian bridge, and couldn't pass it up.It couldn't be a more appropriate blog post for today. Tonight is a big night for me I have at photo submitted at UNLV's Marjorie Barrick Museum. It's Photographer Appreciation month, fellow photographers from my group Las Vegas Photographic Society will have photos on display, as well as students from UNLV and CSN. Everyone who attends will be able to vote. The winning photos will be displayed in the Museum's Lobby for the month. So drop by the Museum on 4550 Maryland Parkway between 7:00-9:00pm and show ALVDP and me some love!

Shoefitti On The Strip

Yes ALVDP fans it's shoefitti on the Strip! At Caesar's Palace no less. I was so exited when I saw this I had to make sure I captured this. Below and to the left of the shoefitti there was a game of 3 Card Monte going on while I was shooting this. They all split before once they made the undercover metro officer, maybe next time I'll get a shot of the game.I was pretty amazed to see this on the pedestrian bridge.(The last game I saw was in the Bronx on the Grand Concourse) I mean come on with all the different games and slot machines you could gamble on why would you throw your money away on a street game of 3 Card Monte? It's the oldest con in the book.

Wheel Of Torture

This wheel of torture (must read with the same cadence as "Wheel Of Fortune"), was shot at the carnival off of the 95 Freeway and Jones.

I have this love hate relationship with Ferris wheels, which started of course when I was a kid. Everyone loves a ride on the Ferris wheel right? Except me. I've forced myself to ride it over the years to prove that I wasn't a chicken. My cousin Paddy and I would ride the Ferris wheel at the St Ann's fair and over at Rye Beach Playland. Paddy enjoyed rocking the seat at the top and I would pretend that it was cool but secretly I wanted to punch him in the face and then puke on him. I of course did neither of those things. I just kept my little secret until now.

Biker Bustier

Yeah this part of the Sirens of TI bike, it's a metal bustier. This bike is truly a work of art you have to appreciate it even if you don't like motorcycles!

Attention To Detail

There are just so many details on this bike, I felt that I should show some of the details. Pretty amazing don't you think.

Bike Fest

This weekend is Bike Fest, there are lots of motorcycles here in Las Vegas. While at TI I spotted this amazing bike. This bike was created for the Sirens of TI. This bike represents a collaboration between Metropolitan Choppers and metal artist Scott Cawood for the Sirens of TI. This bike is truly amazing, the really cool thing is that this is rid-eable art.

Pink Dragon

Busy day today, isn't ironic how the weekends are for relaxing and it seems like more often than not we are so busy trying to fit in all the things we weren't able to get to or get done during the work week. I spent most of the morning on the Strip, with my camera in my hand. I had to take my dog to the Vet, so after the Vet Suzie and I decided to check out this little carnival just off the 95 Freeway and Jones Boulevard.

Cloud Nine

Here's the Strip's newest ride, the Cloud Nine balloon ride. The ride opens Monday October 5th, the 10 minute ride will set you back $22.50 until 6pm and $27.50 after 6pm. You'll find it across from the Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino. The tethered balloon will rise above the 500 feet for a wonderful view of the Strip I can't wait to check it out.

Theme Day Contrast

It always seems to amaze me that another month has passed as we start a new month marked by CDP's Theme Day. October's Theme Day is contrast. In this photo we have the elegant Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino towering over a modest apartment building just one block east of the Strip. Take a look at the the rest of the CDP photo bloggers interpretations of contrast here:Click here to view thumbnails for all participants
