Today's My Day, and I got the proclamation to prove it! And nothing represents Las Vegas better than this iconic sign and Me in my favorite UNLV Rebel shirt.
Here's to all of ALVDP's readers without you there wouldn't be a ALVDP.

Today's My Day, and I got the proclamation to prove it! And nothing represents Las Vegas better than this iconic sign and Me in my favorite UNLV Rebel shirt.
Here's to all of ALVDP's readers without you there wouldn't be a ALVDP.
This one caught me off guard, it's a proclamation from Hizzoner Mayor Goodman proclaiming tomorrow November 30, 2009 Maureen "Mo" Brundage Day. That's right I've got my own day, Mo Day if you will, because of ALVDP! So I will be working half a day because, well for crying out loud it's Mo Day in Vegas baby!
One of the carnival games at New York New York's Coney Island Arcade I'm thinking this guy is supposed to represent Mayor Ed Koch. More on Mayor's tomorrow...
Wow 2-4-1 Couch Dances at Little Darlings! I'm not sure what a couch dance is but I'm sure it's of the lap dance variety. So if you get tired of the mall you could bogo some lap dances .
Today is the day when we spend time with our loved ones, give thanks for all that we have, as we eat, drink and watch football. As I reflect about the past year I think about the many things I am thankful for so I thought I would mention a few. Indulge me will you, I'm thankful for my family, friends and you my loyal readers. I am also thankful for Facebook, yes Facebook. This year Facebook was the a catalyst for reconnecting with family and friends I haven't seen or heard from in too many years.
The waterfall at Discovery Park. I like the droplets of water captured here. This waterfall is a popular backdrop for many family portraits and wedding photographs. That's it for now for Discovery Park.
I managed to capture this little guy sunbathing along the pond right next to yesterday's Ducks in a Row. Contrary to popular belief, the turtles I saw were really quick! I had a hard time photographing them, they would dive into the pond when I approached them. I must have come up on it's blind side.
It's Monday again the start of new work week. Here in the US itwill be a short week, with the Thanksgiving Holiday on Thursday.
Out walking Miss Suzie at Discovery Park in North Las Vegas, she gave these pigeons quite a scare! Their scare turned out to be a pretty cool pic. Hope you're having a great weekend.
Today my friend and ALVDP fan Claudia is here celebrating her 30th Wedding Anniversary! But wait it gets better...today my friend and ALVDP fan Venice got engaged! What a day! Congratulations to both happy couples.Today's photo is of the Little Church of the West Wedding Chapel, where Pete and Claudia were married as well as Elvis and Ann Margaret in Viva Las Vegas. We decided to run by there and take a few quick shots after lunch today.
Yesterday's post featured the Pole Dancing Mobile Billboard, today I wanted to give you a feel for it's location! Here's to a great weekend.
Here in Las Vegas we have mobile billboards that drive up and down the Strip, day and night advertising all sorts of things Shows to Hoes. This mobile billboard is by far the cheesiest, yet brilliant advertising schemes to hit Las Vegas, since "What Happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas."
How cool is this? Like the 3D effect? Guess what it's a sticker, yup a flat 1 dimensional sticker. I found this on an empty building's window downtown on Sixth Street and Fremont Street, not far from the El Cortez Hotel and Casino.
The Fremont Hotel & Casino entrance at Fremont and Fourth Street Downtown. I love being on Fremont Street at night when it's all lit up, there's nothing quite like it.
Without hesitation Saturday night, I walk past the Bikers and smokers standing out in front of the entrance to the Las Vegas Roller Hockey Center. I hand over my unwrapped toy to a guy with a crazy black and orange mohawk, in an orange and black pinstripe zoot suit. I can hear the music rockin' at that moment I knew I was destined for a good time.
Restocking the arcade machines at New York New York's Coney Island Arcade. Getting ready for this busy fight weekend. Filipino boxing sensation Manny Pacquiao takes on Miguel Cotto tonight at the MGM Grand. Things get pretty crazy here during a fight weekend, this weekend will be no different.
Last night the polls closed for the NewYork New York Hotel and Casino's Spokesman Vinny. I voted for the Vinny with all his hair, not because I am that shallow but because he used the word Schmuck on the ballot. Schmuck is a New York word and a word that I love. Besides if your gonna represent you need to talk like a New Yorker.
I convinced Larry that we had to get a photo of one of these Deep Fried Twinkies and taste one so that I could critique it for the blog. So here's how the story goes, we go into the Mermaids Casino and walk all the way to the back. In the back of the casino the have a snack bar with some of those tables you stand at. So we get in line, a line that was quite long and wrapped around the stand up tables. Are you getting the picture? The overpowering smell of grease hanging heavy in the air, standing in line on the tile cinemuck floor that your shoes are sticking too . I look over and see hot dogs on the hot dog spinner/warmer upper and I see a hot dog that looks like it's been there since 1962. I turn to Larry and say I just can't do it, he tells me he knew I would lose it with the smell of the grease. Sorry ALVDP fans we just got the sign maybe next time we'll get the real thing.
Today is the day we honor our Veterans. This is photo is part of the Fremont Street Experience's Viva Vision for Veteran's Day. The memorial tribute listed the names of fallen soldiers too many to fathom.
Another tribute musician, this one plays the heavy hitter Clarence Clemons from the E Street Band. I saw the Big Man in the early '80s on New Years Eve at Nassau Coliseum where he stole the show wearing a red and white Santa hat playing Santa Claus is Coming to Town.
Bruce in the USA's, tribute guitarist Little Steven, Fremont Street Saturday night. He doesn't look like Steve Van Zandt but plays pretty good.
Last night we went to check out Bruce in the USA down on Fremont Street. Bruce in the USA is a tribute to the Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. Bruce in the USA evolved from the Legends in Concert show at the Imperial Palace on the Strip. Lead singer Matt Ryan's likeness to Bruce Springsteen is uncanny.
Here in Vegas we realize people come to Sin City to do a lot of things you can't do at home. I know that people come here to let their proverbial hair down. That doesn't mean you have to do this.
There they are Siegfried and Roy with their signature white tiger, immortalized in bronze on the Las Vegas Strip. I am sorry to say all of the years that I have lived here I never did go to see them perform. Just goes to show you that your live can change at any second, you have to take advantage of every moment. With that said, make sure you take of advantage of this weekend.
Hollywood has it's Walk of Fame, and here in Las Vegas we have our very own Walk of Stars. This star is front of the Mirage on Las Vegas Boulevard or better know as the Strip. The Las Vegas Walk of Stars is on the Strip between Sahara all the way to Russell Road. Currently there are only 36 Stars.
You'll find this bronze tiger along with magicians Siegfried and Roy's busts along the Strip at the Siegfried and Roy Plaza. The S & R Plaza is in front of the Mirage.
A speed bump inside the Palazzo's parking garage. It's actually pretty big, so when drive over it you know it. Yesterday I felt like a I was a speed bump being driven over and over and over. Today's a new day, here's to life's little bumps, they may slow you down for a little while but not forever.
This is my trash can, defaced by a crazed Yankees fan. Ok so here's the story... my husband (Angels Fan) apparently emailed or told our friend/neighbor to bite him after the Angels lost to the Yankees. So this is what he did to our trash can it's really pretty funny.
November's theme is Doorways, how would you like to go through this doorway? Not me! I really couldn't believe my eyes. This was actually like until recently. I shot this out in the Northwest on Decatur. Check out the rest of CDP's doorways, (I'm sure they'll be glamorous compared to this!) here:Click here to view thumbnails for all participants
